I hope to tell you that if I ever do find the one, I’m convincing her that we need to do this. Creative. Awesome. Easily Accessible. Now the trouble is.. finding that girl. Anyway, you came here for my commentary on the video – not my (lack of) love life. I think setting the shots up as if they were pictures was what did it for me. Love the idea and hope to see more of this soon.

I’m not sure whether or not all of the motion blur in this video was intentional or not, however it alone makes this video watchable. Surprisingly, the guy who made it (Rob Wilson) was in high school at the time which kind of adds to the innocence of the video (if you see this post Rob don’t take that comment as derogatory – it’s a positive thing). Love some of the bike shots along the sand near the water. Song was from Angus & Julia Stone and I figured this post might be an uplifting start to your week (for those of you who were off yesterday for Memorial Day like I was – hence the no posts from yesterday).

This short film entitled Bunker from Paul Doucet is great for many reasons. One being that it’s French which means I’m not able to understand any of the speech but because of the mood created by the videography and other thematic elements I’m pretty positive I was able to discern what happens and am certainly able to distinguish the emotions I’m supposed to be feeling at various times. However, I would have posted this film if for nothing else but for the first two minutes. From a brilliant establishing shot of the pull back away from the phonograph to the isolation shot of the character sitting lying on the couch – it was excellent. Some solid sound mixing too!

Anyway, I’m really enjoying this two videos a day thing. I think on Friday’s though, I’m just going to post one and only put videos longer than 6 minutes up so that there can be a place for those. It would be bad news to put you guys through super long videos during the week so I’ll give you the weekend (every weekend) to check out Friday posts. I think words like stunning and totally rad come to mind when watching these. I love the play on the new branding job they’ve done. Much better in video than in graphical form in my opinion too. I had another video for this slot today but I saw this and decided to drop it in quickly after lunch before I got back to work. Hope you enjoy!

This was a protest of some Japanese legislation and rulings that endangered whales. I’m not one to quickly jump on any type of animal rights groups bandwagons but I will if they all do awesome stuff like this (well except for PETA – they’re just ridiculous). Tilt Shift + Stop Motion + Giant whale sculpted from sand + traditionally dress Japanese peeps = Solid Entertainment. Video by Keith Loutit music by Headstrong.

I stumbled across this Photomotion Video from Benjamin Dowie last night while browsing through Vimeo. It’s amazing what you can come upon sometimes. This not only is beautifully shot (with a Canon 40D according to the Vimeo description) it was well organized. Proof that planning is essential in good video of any kind. Plus, I like the message. Enjoy!

This is the latest music video from AudioBullys – a band I hadn’t heard of until this video – for their song, “One Man.” Now, if it’s a band I should know don’t hold that against me as I’m slowly being acclimated to bands I feel I’ve been missing out on the past couple of years. Anyway, this is super creative and inspiring so I decided I’d drop it into the blog for you to see. My favorite parts are when the stereotypical promo cards have video rolling in place of backgrounds. I collect those cards because they fascinate me so naturally I enjoyed that.
