Impeckable

by Ted
August 22nd, 2011

Sorry for the lack of blog posts the past week after talking about new posts coming frequently. I spent some time in Waco, Texas visiting friends from college and moving in my brother at Baylor University. This resulted in little computer time which was probably pretty good for me, but bad for blog content. Also, I ran out of razors right before I left on my trip and I have yet to get new ones. So as I’m typing this out, my beard is still growing. This is my post to let you know I’m back and to let you know that I like to imagine I look as awesome as Gregory Peck when I let my facial hair go.

Thought on Web Video

by Ted
September 23rd, 2010

When the Lumiere Brothers first introduced motion pictures to the public in
the late 1800s, all the people cared to see was movement. Then they began to
want narrative. Then more quality editing. Then better film stock. Better
lighting. etc.

When web video got introduced in the late 1900s, all people cared to see was
movement. Then they began to want narrative. Then….

Do you see where I’m going with this?

While YouTube will always have it’s place as the 24/7 version of America’s
Funniest Home Videos, at some point or another (I would argue the time
has come) people will want quality over crappity.

So… get prepared to produce quality stuff.

Done ranting.

This is one of the best Twitter exchanges that I have ever seen, despite the misspellings. I am proud to have been a part of it.

I Like to Rack Focus

by Ted
December 22nd, 2009

This past Sunday, my brother and I had lunch with the family and then hopped in the car and drove around Piedmont finding “stuff” to shoot. Typically in Piedmont, Oklahoma when you go to shoot something, you are understood to be going hunting. However, this was not the case. Instead, I spent my time messing with the rack focus on my camcorder and shooting video of mostly inanimate objects. It was a blast. We listened to Ray Lamontagne almost the entire time and so naturally I used his song, “Shucking the Corn,” as the background music for the footage. It fits, I do believe, because it was his music that was going through my head while capturing these images. The footage is rough/raw just like Mr. Lamontagne, and hopefully you enjoy it. You can watch it, here.

The following are some stills from the video itself:

Beards – Love Them or Hate Them?

by Ted
December 16th, 2009

I made a pact with myself two and a half weeks ago that I would keep a beard until finals are over.

I did not know where this would lead.

The results are in the picture below.

(note: I did allow my self to shave the “neard” (neck beard) because it gets so ridiculously itchy)
