Back to Blogging – Music

by Ted
October 5th, 2011

I refuse to apologize for not blogging. I’m in New York City.

That being said, here we go again… I miss blogging every day so I’m going to do it when I find awesome things.

Like this song from the one man band Bernhoft:

Discovered this thanks to Spotify and via my brother Caleb. He’s disgustingly talented (Bernhoft, not Caleb… although he is as well).

So Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays you’re going to get the random assortment of links, pictures and videos I find interesting. Wednesdays you’re going to get good music. And Fridays will be a short film each week so you have all weekend to watch it if you so desire.

And I’m not posting on Saturdays or Sundays for now because… (see first line)

250 Canon 60d’s and Bad Music

by Ted
August 15th, 2011

This is the ultimate, “Cool video, terrible music” moment. I mean, maybe you enjoy this tune from Androp but I have to admit I’m not a fan… and I have a pretty eclectic taste in music.

Maybe it will grow on me though, as I’ll probably watch this video enough times for it to happen. The only question I have after watching this is if I’m allowed to take one of the two hundred and fifty 60d’s they used to make this happen!

Huge props to the creative director for this, I love the shots from the cameras themselves catching the band members being lit by the the light of the flashes from other cameras.

Vampire Weekend and Typography

by Ted
June 2nd, 2010

Although there are parts of this I think could be improved upon. The idea from June Harrild is just wonderful. I would love it if bands actually commissioned someone to do this to correspond with the song and the standard music video because I think it really helps bring clarity out of songs like Vampire Weekend’s typical stuff. Plus, it also more clearly lays out the specific lyrics for those of us who have a tendency to not realize they’ve been singing a song wrong for years (notice I did not fully admit anything there). Anyway, motion typography + Vampire Weekend = a good start to your Wednesday morning, am I right?

(Best sequence is from 2:40-2:45 in my opinion)

Motion Blur

by Ted
June 1st, 2010

I’m not sure whether or not all of the motion blur in this video was intentional or not, however it alone makes this video watchable. Surprisingly, the guy who made it (Rob Wilson) was in high school at the time which kind of adds to the innocence of the video (if you see this post Rob don’t take that comment as derogatory – it’s a positive thing). Love some of the bike shots along the sand near the water. Song was from Angus & Julia Stone and I figured this post might be an uplifting start to your week (for those of you who were off yesterday for Memorial Day like I was – hence the no posts from yesterday).

Be sure to check back later today for the next post – very neat idea for a wedding invitation.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

AudioBullys – One Man

by Ted
May 26th, 2010

This is the latest music video from AudioBullys – a band I hadn’t heard of until this video – for their song, “One Man.” Now, if it’s a band I should know don’t hold that against me as I’m slowly being acclimated to bands I feel I’ve been missing out on the past couple of years. Anyway, this is super creative and inspiring so I decided I’d drop it into the blog for you to see. My favorite parts are when the stereotypical promo cards have video rolling in place of backgrounds. I collect those cards because they fascinate me so naturally I enjoyed that.

Video directed by Jonas & Francois. (Mad props fellas!)

Oh – and am I the only one bothered by the band’s inability to spell the plural form of “bully?” Kids these days.
